151 Pirie

In March 2006, Built Environs completed the $23 million 151 Pirie Street project in Adelaide, South Australia, the first Adelaide building to be awarded a 4½-star Australian Building Greenhouse Rating (ABGR).

Now known as KPMG House, the building has nine floors (including a plantroom) and a basement, with a total floor area of 17,500 m2.

Amongst the many environmentally-friendly initiatives, air-conditioning is provided by an efficient chilled water central plant system, augmented by variable air volume (VAV) boxes and low airflow swell diffusers.

Built Environs also saved the tenant, KPMG, considerable time and money by integrating the fit-out of the top three floors with the main construction programme and starting work on the fitout three months early.

Through working closely with the clients, suppliers and trades, Built Environs delivered the project ahead of time and under budget, with no Lost Time Injuries.

In 2007, 151 Pirie received a national Australian Institute of Building award in the Commercial Construction $10 million to $50 million category for the building, while the fitout of the KPMG offices received a High Commendation from the Australian Institute of Building in the Commercial Construction $2.5 million to $10 million category.
