In October 2008, Built Environs completed the $4.5 million Ashford Operating Theatres project for Adelaide Community Healthcare Alliance (ACHA) in Ashford, near Adelaide, South Australia.

930 m2 of floor area was demolished and then refurbished into three operating theatres, a procedures room, recovery area, sterile and stock areas, a holding area, associated utility areas and staff facilities. Built Environs also managed the client’s specialised hospital service trades.

The whole project was undertaken within a fully operational hospital environment.

Built Environs worked closely with the client to balance the construction programme demands with the operational needs of the hospital and its commercial arrangements with private consultants in the rooms directly above the worksite. The end result is a state-of-the-art operating suite delivered in record time to the highest possible quality.

Built Environs received a High Commendation at the 2009 Australian Institute of Building South Australian Awards for its work on this project.
