Summary:

Built Environs was engaged to construct a two-storey multi-tenancy private medical specialist centre in the Perth suburb of West Leederville. (Formerly Perth Building Company).

The Medical Centre was designed to house specialist medical practices and was divided into 12 strata-titled units, varying in size with a 90 vehicle, car park in the basement. The contract scope included the construction of specialist medical fit-out for some tenancies - the most significant being a day surgery area, which consisted of two hospital-standard operating theatres and recovery facilities. By participating in the design process, Built Environs developed innovative solutions which resulted in substantial cost savings for the client, particularly in the planning and erection of the base structure’s site-cast tilt-up concrete panel walls. Detailed planning allowed for the provision of specialist medical services to the tenancy fit-outs being performed by other parties post-build.

Close liaison with the design team, the surgery management team and the WA Department of Health was vital to the success of this development and works were completed to a tight time schedule and to exacting standards. The successful completion of this project demonstrated an in-depth understanding of the complexities of health facility construction and fit-out.
