The award-winning University of Adelaide Capital Management Plan (CMP) Building Works comprised a total of 74 projects varying in size, value and complexity. Projects included refurbishments, upgrades and new work to teaching spaces, computer suites, laboratories, research facilities and office fit-outs across three operational University of Adelaide campuses.
The Built Environs project team managed up to 20 subprojects at any one time across the planning, design, tender and construction phases.
Safety was paramount in managing multiple projects across three active university campuses used by approximately 25,000 students and 3,000 staff. Other challenges included working within an operational environment, communicating with a multitude of stakeholders, managing delicate staging, and programming works to meet strict semester start dates.
All CMP projects were completed on time, within budget and to a high-quality finish, helping the University to meet its vision of providing a vibrant intellectual environment satisfying for staff, rewarding for students and engaging of the community.
The project received a Professional Excellence in Building Award at the Australian Institute of Building SA Awards in 2013.
