Adelaide Showground Goyder Pavilion, SA
Duration: October 2007 to August 2008
Value: $37 million
Contract type: AS 4902 Special Conditions
Summary: Built Environs constructed this 10,000 m2 entertainment and events pavilion, with supporting infrastructure and 20,000 m2 of civil works, within an operational entertainment and events facility for the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society.
The Adelaide Showground project also included the creation of hospitality, retail and plaza areas.
More than 40 major events were held at the Adelaide Showground during the course of construction, requiring significant planning and liaison between the project team, client and event organisers. As well as public access on the days of the actual events, there was a considerable logistical effort to ensure the events could be loaded-in and loaded-out safely.
The project was a landmark in environmental design, featuring two 3.5 million litre underground stormwater storage tanks fed from the Goyder Pavilion’s roof.
A close working relationship with the client and an excellent onsite culture ensured the project proceeded on schedule and to the highest possible quality standards, delivering an extremely versatile entertainment and events venue.
Built Environs subsequently worked with Solar Shop Australia to install Australia’s largest rooftop solar panel system across Goyder Pavilion and five other buildings at the Showground.
