Summary: Built Environs constructed this federal and state funded health facility to provided allied health, counselling, dental, diagnostics, general practice and specialist nursing services for the northern suburbs region of Adelaide.
The building was designed to a five-star Green Star equivalent Design for Office Buildings, with a 64,000-litre underground rainwater tank and a highly efficient gas-powered air conditioning system included in the final scope.
The two-storey building has a footprint of around 2,800 m2, with a total floor area of around 4,600 m2. Built Environs also managed construction of the 5,200-m2 car park and around 3,000 m2 of landscaping and pavement areas.
In addition to fitting the normally required reticulated services (electrical, fire, hydraulics and mechanical) and a lift, Built Environs coordinated the installation of medical services (oxygen, gas and suction) by specialist installers.
The electrical design incorporates data, general power, looms, security and uninterruptable power supply. The 30-kVA uninterruptable power supply, located on the first floor, provides 15 minutes of operating time to the building management system, drug store and mammography X-ray machines.
The hydraulic system includes rainwater collection and reticulation, natural gas reticulation, dental chair water supply, reverse osmosis demineralised water reticulation, hot and cold water reticulation and sewer.
Also of note, the building features a highly efficient gas-powered variable refrigerant volume (VRV) system and a high technology data premises distribution system.
The building was constructed within a very busy retail shopping centre and civic services precinct, with all the access roads shared with the general public and major bus routes.
