Burswood Business Park, WA
Duration: February 2008 to March 2009
Value: $13.7 million
Contract type: Guaranteed Maximum Price
Summary: In joint venture with the Perth Building Company (PBC), Built Environs redeveloped 7,500 m2 of open plan offices, car parking and storage areas on the corner of Burswood Road and Craig Street in Perth.
The project involved three components:
- Early works, including extensive asbestos remediation.
- Converting an existing warehouse and car park civil works.
- Fit-out of an office for Coffey Projects.
Among the challenges involved in this project, a new mezzanine floor was required within an existing structure with minimal re-work to the existing roof and substantial structural demolition – all while maintaining the structural integrity and safety of adjacent properties.
Refurbishment included reinstating feature cladding elements, new aluminium shopfront windows, extensive rendering, feature canopies and new building services, as well as a new central entry area.
Civil works included new apron entrances, reinstatement of the perimeter road and car park, swales, trench grating and landscaping.
The project received a 2009 Master Builders Association Excellence in Construction Award for Best Commercial Renovation / Refurbishment.
