Largest police building in
SA history providing modern space for more than 1,000 staff

The new 10-storey South Australia Police (SAPOL) headquarters was designed to achieve a five-star Green Star rating and featured open plan office space, a glass and aluminium clad concrete façade.

Security features were tailored to meet the long-term operational requirements of the police. The project included one of Adelaide's largest concrete footing pours in decades, with nearly 1,500 m3 poured in nine hours.

From the start, Built Environs collaborated with the customer and the consultant team to provide advice on cost and time effects of different construction techniques and materials. Furthermore, the team had to maintain emergency vehicle access through the site to the adjacent South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service headquarters.

Built Environs managed to integrate construction with the customer's fit-out contractor, delivering the building a month ahead of schedule for occupancy by over 1,100 SAPOL employees.
