Built Environs is proud to have reached practical completion of the high profile and iconic Oval Hotel in Adelaide. In an Australian first, the 138-room hotel has been integrated into the eastern façade and wrapped around the existing exterior structure of the Adelaide Oval.

The 5-story building consists of two wings and was constructed using Cross Laminated Timber (CLT). The reception pod spans between the North and South wings and above the East Gate. The use of CLT on this project enabled the project team to construct the hotel on an accelerated program of just over 12 months. Delivered under challenging and changing operational circumstances and navigating through covid-19 restrictions, the Oval Hotel was successfully completed with no Lost Time Injuries.

Luke Goldup, Project Manager for Built Environs highlighted that it was rewarding to deliver this landmark project in South Australia…

“This has been a fantastic achievement and the result of an incredibly committed effort by our project team, consultants and our subcontractors & suppliers to deliver the project on time for the Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority”

Minimising the impact of construction for gameday patrons at the East Gate was a priority throughout the build.  Built Environs continues to work in live operational environments delivering exciting projects like the Oval Hotel.
